I Have Thoughts...
I keep recommending this one. (I am not being compensated.)
Into The Blue by Emma Brodie ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I keep pushing this book on people like I’m getting paid for it. To be clear, I am not.
This is a second chance romance about two misfit teens who meet working at a video store, and it kept me guessing from start to finish. The third act is utterly unique and had me yelling at characters through wet eyes. You’ve been warned.
The thread that runs through the entire story — the thing that keeps these characters tethered to each other across time — is a retro intergalactic TV show. Star Trek-ish. Odd. A little weird. Totally works. I am not even in the vicinity of a Trekkie, but space whales and star pirates did not detract from this story one bit. About 40% of the book lives inside the inner workings of this fictional show, and some readers found that strange or disconnected. I think it’s actually the best creative choice Brodie makes. It becomes the connective tissue for everything.
This is not your light and fluffy second chance romance. It’s deep, heavy, and bittersweet, with just enough comedy and sci-fi to keep you delightfully off balance.
Published under Jenna Bush Hager’s new imprint and a Reese’s Book Club pick — Emma Brodie must have dollar signs for eyes. Personally, I’m just thrilled the book lived up to it.
Some Me Before You, a little My Oxford Year, a dash of Tomorrow and Tomorrow and Tomorrow, with a Heathcliff and Cathy cherry on top. Worth every bit of the hype.
PSA: I’ll always link Amazon because convenience is real. But I’ve added Bookshop.org links to every review because buying through Bookshop directly supports the independent, local bookstore of your choice.
Two options. Zero judgment. 📚
